Manfred, Your presentation of Memories of the Eternal was a very needed message in our church's journey at the present time. As I have shared with you we seem to be "frozen." I believe the content on each of the four nights resounded deeply for the people who were in attendance. To take the stories of Adam and Eve, Nicodemus, The Samaritan woman at the well, and The Prodigal Son, and highlight them as the struggles of all humans was extremely moving for our congregation. To hear these stories as universal narratives struck a chord for all of us. The illustrations that you supplied were also engaging and helpful in our journey. Hopefully, by truly listening we can begin our thaw.
As a pastor these four nights were extremely helpful in understanding my congregation at a different level. This was our first "revival" during my tenure at Pitsburg. I appreciated the comments you offered to stimulate growth and health in our small but vibrant tribe of believers. I was also able to glean new insights; from their comments; about the people who make up this congregation.
God has clearly set a message of truth upon your heart. We are grateful for the opportunity to hear and respond to that message. It seems you are a great giver. If there is anything we can help or assist you with in your life please call us. Again, thank-you. May God continue to heap blessings upon you and the lives you touch. I am the pastor of St. John United Church of Christ in West Alexandria, Ohio. I had prayed for three years about having a "revival" at our local church, something that hadn't been done in decades. After attending the Transformation Conference, at Ginghamsburg Church, Tipp City, Ohio, last October, with four other people from my church, it became clear it was time for a "revival" in our church. My brother in Christ and my colleague in ministry, Pastor Manfred Schreyer, mentioned to me about revivals he had done in various churches, so after both of us praying about him coming to St. John Church to lead a revival, it happened. On September 29 through October 2, 2003, Pastor Manfred lead a revival at St. John Church, entitled Memories of the Eternal. A four-day spiritual journey that focused on: who we are as human beings and the choices we have to make in life; how we find our true selves in this life; what is the purpose of our life; and how can we sense 'right' from 'wrong' as we are on the journey of life. God is good (all the time) for the power of the Holy Spirit that was present and experienced by those who came was incredible. Pastor Manfred presented spirit-filled messages that touched and changed people's lives (including mine). For some, Jesus Christ became real to them as they experienced salvation in their lives. Three people who came to the revival from my congregation testified to our congregation yesterday in our morning worship service of their experiences at the revival. Those who came want to have another revival and those who couldn't come for all four nights said they wished they could have. I thank and praise God for answering my three year prayer in the way that He did. My expectations were far exceeded. Isn't that the way God works?
