Violent
Sands brings a believable story of a man named Barabbas. He is one and
the same whose life was spared in order to crucify our savior Jesus
Christ. It is a story of hatred, blessing, curses and love, but most of
all a story of salvation.
Author
Sean Young weaves a story filled with suspense including battles,
passions, honor and love. His primary character, Barabbas, is a God
fearing zealot fighting for the cause of Jerusalem, freedom from the
reign of the Romans. He and his band terrorize the local Roman sect
with acts of violence often unimagined by the common citizen. Though
they lack the courage and the wherewithal to carry out such plans, the
Jews in general love Barabbas and revere him.
Barabbas’
ways, however, soon land him into the merciless hands of Pilate and he
seems destined for crucifixion. Just before his trial the crowd starts
chanting his name and soon after follows with the chant, ‘Crucify him!’
Barabbas knows his time is short but when he is led out he is startled
to learn that they were calling for his freedom and the crucifixion of
a peaceful teacher from Nazareth that he knew little of except that he
was said to be the Messiah. Barabbas takes his newfound freedom in
stride even with the death of his brother alongside Jesus and continues
on his way until he learns of the copper scroll.
Through
timing and necessity, Barabbas ends up taking an oath to protect the
scroll with his life. He also falls for a beauty that accidentally
prevented his escape attempt before Pilate released him. His two
nemesis’ Gaius and Eleazor prove to be competent foes and Miyka’el
manages to take Barabbas’ beauty as a wife while he is far away and
under duress. Will Barabbas find a way to defeat his enemies? Will he
win back his true love? It’s a good bet that I won’t tell you!
Jesus
took not only Barabbas’ place on that cross but ours as well. Violent
Sands will help give you a visual of what it feels like to have been
there at that moment. As awkward as it was for Barabbas to understand,
it is even more inconceivable for unbelievers. Hopefully, this book
will lead them to the ultimate salvation and recharge believers to
understand the reservations of others better. There is no doubt that
Violent Sands has a mission beyond entertainment and will impact this
world for God.
