10th year in business, which the company will be celebrating throughout
2007.
In February 1997, during the “dot com” explosion, Truepath launched as a
software company. Truepath founder and current CEO, Gil Vidals, began the
business venture with funding from his father. After developing several
Christian software titles for children (published by Parsons Technology),
Vidals decided to focus more specifically on the nascent Christian web
hosting niche.
“With this venture, I was searching for a business idea that would
involve the Internet, and Truepath Christian web hosting as we know it
today was born,” Vidals said.
Truepath incorporated in December 1997 as a web hosting company. The new
company generated many initial business leads by offering free web
hosting to Christians around the globe. Truepath quickly flourished and
grew to 65,000 free members at one point. Vidals soon fine-tuned the
rapid start into a more traditional “paid service” business. With the
success and profitability of Truepath, Vidals received some acquisition
offers.
“The companies offering to buy me out were well funded start-ups, but
eventually they went under,” said Vidals. “I worried that would happen to
our customers and didn’t want the whole enterprise to flounder.”
Vidals kept on with the business and has grown it without merging with
another company. Today Truepath remains a company of vision, seeking to
empower Christian organizations and businesses to take full advantage of
